Katie and the Marsden March

In memory of my adorable step daughter Katie

Katie ...our family and friends will be taking part in the Marsden March this year, aiming to raise money to help both hospitals continue their incredible work on a daily basis, ultimately praying that fewer people have to suffer through this horrendous illness.

During the 18 months that Katie was ill, she spent a considerable amount of time in the Royal Marsden hospitals receiving incredible treatment. They were amazing in their care towards her and other patients, using chemo and radiotherapy, drug trials, and good old fashioned laughter to try their best to help her.

In the end, the cancer was too aggressive for her body to beat and she died on the 12th November 2011. Katie always felt in the safest hands whilst at The Royal Marsden and believed that there was nowhere better to be treated.

The family are also forming a charitable trust in her memory to assist in the palliative care of cancer patients and further details of this will be available shortly.

The Marsden March

The Marsden March will take place 0n Sunday 11 March 2012 with thousands of people getting sponsored to walk the 14 miles between the Chelsea and Sutton hospitals.

The route starts at The Royal Marsden in Chelsea and goes through Fulham, Putney, Wimbeldon and into Surrey, finishing at The Royal Marsden in Sutton.
